New Badges!

Update by Kelly:
Ok, I tried it on my blogger and I think I know what it’s the problem. I deleted and retyped all the ” in the code and the badge is showing. Must be the font in wordpress that blogger is refusing to recognize. They are competitor ma, must have something not compatible 1. hehe.
So, just delete and retype all the ” and we’re good to go. :D

Thanks to inkypots, we’ve got a few badges that you can use to link to our blog here, as well as search results of what we sell on Etsy using search term ‘team etsymalaysia’! The codes for the first three are linking to Etsy Malaysia Local Team Blog, and the last one is linking to the search results on Etsy. Simply copy the code below the badge(s) and start sharing. And if you’d like to link to to different locations as suggested (eg: using the first one linking to the search results instead), simply change the URL after ‘a href=’ at the beginning of each code, and well as the title (if needed) after ‘img title=’.

Free Tutorial – Butter Cookies

Tutorial courtesy of Notty Pooch.

The recipe of my parents’ famous butter cookies!

What you’ll need:

250g butter, room temparature

100g icing sugar

300g flour

Approx. 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

Instructions:

1. Preheat oven to 180-200 degrees C.

2. Mix flour and baking powder in a bowl.

3. Cream butter and icing sugar with an electric mixer until white and fluffy.

4. Fold in the flour mixture

5. Make into the shape(s) you want and place on cookie sheet. Here is the part I like best. We discovered our very own tools-of-the-year – a COOKIE PRESSER! It’s so much fun to play with!

6. Bake in the oven for about 15 minutes, or until golden brown.

7. Last but not least, this is the most important step. Eat as much as you like.

After All, We Live on the Same Planet.

A few days ago Etsy’s Storque had a post regarding this shop, HeartsforHaiti. The shop is run by more than twenty sellers, collecting donated items from other Etsy sellers to be sold on the shop. 100% of the proceeds from the shop (minus Etsy fees and Paypal fees) will go directly to Doctors Without Borders, an international medical humanitarian organization working in more than 60 countries to assist people whose survival is threatened by violence, neglect, or catastrophe (quoted from the website).

Me and my boyfriend have been looking for ways to help ever since the earthquake in Haiti. There are a few shops on Etsy that run about the same way as the shop mentioned above, for instance crafthope for Haiti, also donating to Doctors Without Borders. They are, however, suspending donations for 2 weeks (since 20 Jan 2010) to catch up with the donations and admin stuff due to the good response.

Far in Malaysia, with no medical knowledge and big amount of money (well, at least true for me), how can we help? Donation. Me and my boyfriend have donated one of our storage bins to HeartsforHaiti and will donate another one to crafthope for Haiti once it reopens to accept donations. Despite donating items, we’ll be paying for the shipping to ship the sold item(s) to the buyer as well, as our own form of monetary donation and also it’s easier for the above-mentioned shops to operate (I believe it’s one of the terms listed too if you are interested to donate).

Apart from donating, you can, of course, shop at the above-mentioned shops and help out. Hearts for Haiti has a blog here with some updates on the donation and the money raised to-date.
